Placement In The USA In All 3 Years Of The Degree
January Intake Start Date
Taught through blended learning this degree option involves students attending residential periods on-campus in Wales in January and November.
The remainder of the course is taught through blended learning material including on-line assignments and work-based learning.
Students spend up to 9 months in the USA in all three years of the course where they conduct their work-based learning through paid on-field coaching and sports administration projects with soccer teams and programmes in the USA.
This option is ideal for those who:
Already possess recognized football coaching qualifications (e.g FA, FAW, UEFA qualifications)
Have already been coaching within the football industry and have experience coaching children and youth soccer players
Are independent, confident, with a desire to travel
Year 1 On Campus, Placements In The USA In Year 2 & 3
September Intake Start Date
Year 1 takes place on-site at the University of South Wales based at the USW Sport Park, at the state-of-the-art coaching and performance development centre. You’ll be taught face to face by leading specialists in the field. Year 1 also includes training and preparation for your work placement with UK International Soccer as well as an opportunity to play for the University teams.
In Year 2 and 3 you will complete paid work placements with UK international soccer in the USA. This is a very unique opportunity to provide you with industry experience where you will apply your learning in a practical environment.

The BSc (Hons) Football Coaching, Development, and Administration course is aimed at students who want to gain on-the-field practical coaching experience while studying towards a degree.
This course provides an opportunity to gain industry-recognized coaching awards (FAW and UEFA qualifications) while studying all aspects of football coaching, football development, social inclusion and sports management skills.

University of South Wales (USW) has a brand-new specially designed sporting performance facility that focuses on rugby and football coaching. It includes a specialist centre for strength and conditioning with 12 lifting platforms, providing a high-performance environment for aspiring athletes. Our full-size indoor 3G pitch is built to the Fifa Pro standard and World Rugby 22 standard. It will guarantee training all year round for our rugby, football, and coaching students. USW is the only university in England and Wales to offer this facility.
You'll also find a notational analysis suite and over 30 acres of playing fields, including 5 floodlit pitches. USW has a sand-dressed 'astroturf' pitch, as well as 2 full-size FIFA approved 3G pitches In addition to these all-weather pitches, there are 6 grass football pitches, 3 grass rugby pitches, and a large changing pavilion. The facilities are regularly used by international professional teams, such as the Wales National Football team and Cardiff City Football Club, as well as the touring New Zealand, South Africa, and Australia rugby squads. This confirms the high quality of USW's pitches and the versatility of their equipment.

USW Football is one of the biggest clubs at the university, with 8 teams; 6 men’s and 2 women’s. Their vision is to provide a performance environment for talented football players to continue training and playing whilst studying on an academic programme to help create new opportunities.
The Men’s 1st team had unbelievable success in 2018/19. They managed to go the whole season undefeated and in doing so were crowned BUCS Premier South League Champions and BUCS Championship Cup Winners.
All of the football teams at USW train on a Monday evening at the USW Sports Park and your kit, transport, and insurance are provided if you are lucky enough to be selected for one of the teams.
The University of South Wales has 2 women's football teams, both playing in the BUCS league. The first team plays in one of the top divisions, the BUCS Western 1A, whilst the second team plays in the BUCS Western 3B.
